The Misery Of Bearing Acne Scars On The Face

Acne scars have a drastic impact on the sense of worth of a person. A good number of us, in our days of youth, may have suffered from a terrible case of acne; it is one of those miserable and harrowing personal rites of passage most of us had to undergo while growing up. Foremost, we had to endure the crimson pustules called pimples, and then, we had to face the scarring that is eventually left behind.

A case of acne is basically induced when skin pores become plugged with grime and sebum. This blocked hair follicle is an ideal place for the growth of bacteria; the bacteria cause those reddish pustules we call zits.

Once we get over the reddish papules, we have to deal with the scars. Although there are acne scars that disappear after a while, some scars do not. Living with these scars on our own faces can be a discouraging experience.

Acne scarring has 4 primary types. Rolling scars are hollows with a broad, shallow depth. Ice pick scars resemble scores on the skin's surface. The raised-surface type could either be a keloidal or hypertrophic scar. Acne scars found on the temples or the cheeks are called boxcar scars, and they could be mistaken for scars left over from chickenpox.

Academic researches show that acne scars on the face can have deep-seated psychological effects on a person, for example low sense of self-worth, depression, and suicidal tendencies.

Treatment technologies for acne-induced scars are being developed everyday. Inquire from your doctor about the advantages of some of the more well-known means of facial scar treatment, such as laser therapy, creams and injectables, dermabrasion, and other latest technological advancements. There's still hope!
