Get Rid Of Allergy With Effective Treatments

DILO 21. June #3: HayfeverImage by AndiH via Flickr
You may have contracted an allergy if you have to contend with frequent episodes of runny nose, continuous cough and sneeze or scratchy, red skin rashes. Your body exhibits allergic symptoms when it is trying to deal with external allergens. There can be lots of factors that can cause an allergy, such as a specific food item like milk, soy or other dairy products, contact with certain allergens like dust and pollutants, hairs of household pets, pollen etc or even some medicinal drugs.

Diagnosis by a certified and experienced specialist should be the very first step that the person must take instead of trying to trace out the root cause of the allergy himself or herself, which could turn out to be dangerous. Once the exact allergen, which is the root cause behind all the irritation, is identified, it becomes quite easy for the physician to prescribe the correct medications.

The more common and affordable types of treatment are antihistamines and anti allergy medications which are prescribed by physicians and specialists. Once the allergen is identified, it is always recommended to stay away from it. Wearing a face mask in dusty environments, for example, while cleaning the house or stepping out in a dusty environment, can protect you from allergy if it is caused by dust particles. With a good air purifier installed in your house you can get rid of allergen from the air you breathe in.

Ensure that you keep away from medicines that cause your allergy and intimate the same to the doctor or specialist before he writes out a prescription. For those having food related allergies, a careful control over your diet and attention to foods that have previously aggravated your allergies will help immensely.

Don't accept immitations - Try a Real Smoothie

An electric blenderImage via Wikipedia

When you have a smoothie are you sure you know what is going into it? Certainly the smoothie has become big business these days because words such as "natural" and "healthy" have been used to describe certain food products. However the smoothies that you see on the supermarket shelf are not as "innocent" as they may seem. Many of these products use advertisements where sunny outdoor scenes are used or the blender contains fruit to convey an image that these contain vital and fresh living ingredients. But often these are produced on mass using machinery and vats of fruit purees which to extend their shelf life have been pasteurized.

Also although many juice and smoothie bars have opened not everyone offers customers natural products. Some will use frozen fruit purees that have high levels of sugar in them and which are supplied by the companies who supply their smoothie making and juicing equipment. Because these types of blenders are expensive to buy, juice bars will tend to purchase a company's frozen fruit portions to make their drinks because they get the equipment for free.

However, there are a number of juice bar chains who have created their own frozen fruit products which not only saves them money but simplifies their operations. Although there are some which are good there are others that contain high levels of sugar. But if you think it is some sort of conspiracy to make sure that we don't get natural ingredients, and then think again. It's just businesses streamlining things in order to make a profit, but there are times when we as the consumer lose out.
